Background

Commercial Fitout Furniture (CFF) partnered with XVenture to create a virtual world website that would move beyond the limitations of a traditional 2D website. The experience was designed as an immersive showroom where customers, partners and suppliers could explore CFF's furniture range, interact with products and learn more about the brand and its services.

Rather than presenting products through a traditional catalogue-style website, the virtual environment allowed users to navigate a spatial showroom and engage with products in a more experiential way.

The Challenge

How might we create an immersive virtual environment that feels intuitive to navigate while allowing users to explore products naturally and understand where to go and what to do without creating cognitive overload?

The experience needed to balance the novelty of a virtual environment with the familiarity and clarity users expect from a traditional website. Products, information and interactive content needed to be discoverable while maintaining a consistent and engaging experience.

Approach

I worked across the development of the virtual environment and supporting digital content, considering how users would move through the space, discover information and interact with products.

I contributed to the creation and refinement of the virtual environment, alongside researching and implementing 3D product models that allowed users to explore furniture in greater detail. I also developed supporting content including graphic assets, videos, microsites and interactive elements to create a cohesive experience across the virtual showroom.

The project required a multidisciplinary approach across UX, graphic design, 3D visualisation and content creation, with the experience continuously considered from both the client's objectives and the user's perspective.

Solution

The resulting virtual world transformed CFF's website into an immersive digital showroom where users could move through the environment, explore furniture and access product information in context.

3D models allowed products to be viewed and examined within the virtual environment, while interactive content and digital representations of CFF team members created additional opportunities for users to learn about the brand and its offering.

Outcome

The CFF virtual world launched as a fully immersive website, replacing the traditional 2D experience and providing customers, partners and suppliers with a new way to explore CFF's products and services.

The project became one of Infinite XVR's examples of how virtual environments could be used to create richer brand, product and customer experiences.
